Welcome to My Casual Kitchen! Kick off your shoes – can I get you a cocktail? I’m Maddy, and I revel in all the little things in life. I created this blog to show you how easy it is to be a baller cook and impress your taste buds. I always use fresh ingredients and fuse the traditional with the surprising, because let’s be real: who doesn’t need to spice things up sometimes?

My Casual Kitchen Philosophy

  1. Eat the Rainbow | Colorful food is good for you! While rainbow-bright fruits and veggies tend to be packed with nutrients, processed foods give off a bland, dull color because they contain a lot of bleached white flour and refined sugar. And don’t be fooled by artificial dyes! If you make an effort to put color on your plate, you’ll be making healthier choices without much effort!
  2. Eat Whole Foods | Choose ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible. I focus on getting as many  whole grains and raw, organic fruits and veggies as possible into my diet.
  3. Shop Your Pantry | Keep your pantry and freezer stocked with essentials so you always have ingredients on hand for a home-cooked meal. Sift through your cabinets for spices, canned goods, and sauces that you can use to add a ton of flavor to a staple base like grains, potatoes, frozen veggies, or pasta.
  4.  Go for It! | If something you see on my site intrigues you, make the damn thing! That’s what recipes are for, and mine are easy to follow and suitable for all skill levels. The only thing holding you back from becoming a cook is cooking!

    Maddy,
We made your ahi tuna burgers and they were fabulous — fresh and full of lovely, complementary tastes. Love your site.
